Maggie Barry is a well known New Zealand television and radio personality. She has also had a long career in journalism. The Listener magazine, Australian Women's Weekly, National Radio, media trainer, NZ Book Council (Chair), Mary Potter Hospice (Patron) and Outward Bound (Board Member) are just some of her current work involvements.
Maggie has been a member of the National Health Committee from an independent expert organisation providing independent advice to the Minister of Health from 1997- 2000. Maggie was the lay person representative for a 3-year term. During that time she chaired a working party in Palliative Care (1997-1999 and through to presentation to the Cancer control strategy) and led a twelve month review into NZ Maternity services (1999).
Her involvement with SPARC is in its second year and her very popular “Walking programme with Maggie” is again part of the 2007 ‘Push Play’ and women’s REAL Duathalon campaigns for which she is an ambassador.
Maggie has also been a recipient of the O.N.Z.M. award (formerly known as the O.B.E.) for services to Broadcasting in 1997.
We are sure with Maggie's many talents she will prove a highly successful Conference facilitator.
