Welcome to IPAC08

Victor KlapIPAC08 on Reflection

Now that IPAC08 has moved “offstage” it seems only appropriate to do a little post-conference reflecting.  First of all though, a big thank you to everyone who was involved in making IPAC08 such a success, whether in a speaking, facilitating, questioning, attending, dining and grooving, exhibiting or organising role.  We sincerely hope you enjoyed being a part of IPAC08 as much as we did in bringing it to you.

So, on reflection, here are just a few of the major highlights, the:

  • Blessing of the Waka Huia (basket of knowledge) during the opening ceremony
  • Excellence of visiting international speakers Dr Matt Handley, Janet Askham, Dr Randall Oates and David Garrett
  • Debate generated by Health and Disability Commissioner Ron Paterson
  • Engaging panel discussions and challenging questions posed by many delegates
  • Wide variety of interesting concurrent sessions (how did delegates choose!)
  • The powerful, witty and challenging address about the future of general practice by IPAC Chair Dr Bev O’Keefe
  • Night on Broadway at the St James Theatre with a beautiful 3 course meal, fine New Zealand wine by our very own Mt Difficulty and fabulous Broadway entertainment
  • Quality and breadth of Exhibitors
  • Very entertaining and enlightening views of event management specialists Arthur Klap and Robin Judkins
  • Honouring of departing IPAC Executive members and IPAC co-founders Dr Tom Marshall and Dr Paul McCormack

That’s a lot of highlights and a good thing too!

If you are want copies of the speakers’ presentations and power points then you’re in luck because we’ve made them available.  We have also put up a selection of photos from the conference to remind you of all the great moments.

So, once again, for those of you who attended – thank you!  And for those of you who didn’t – hopefully the wonderful comments from colleagues and friends and the information you can gain from this website will inspire you to join us next time.

Warm Regards,

Victor Klap
Chief Executive
